5 Quick ways to Gorgeous Hair

Having gorgeous hair isn’t as hard as you may think it is. Have you heard the expression, you are what you eat? This is very true on so many levels. Take your hair for instance; when you eat healthy foods filled with zinc, B Vitamins and calcium, your hair becomes much healthier and shinier.

Here are a few tips you can try (including eating healthy) that will make your hair healthy, shiny and full of volume like Kate Hudson’s (which is every girl’s dream)

1. Eat the right foods
-a cheeseburger
filled with Iron, zinc, B vitamins (meat), calcium (cheese), the antioxidant lycopene (tomato), biotin (lettuce), and niacin (bun) all promote healthy, voluminous and shiny hair.

- a well-balanced diet
This includes a variety of foods in the food pyramid that provide all the nutrients you need for your hair: lean proteins, fruits, and vegetables, whole grains, legumes, fatty fish (like salmon) and low-fat dairy. According to Nutritionists and WebMD, this is the best way to go, not only to ensure a beautiful, healthy mane, but also a healthy body!

2. Deep condition
Often times your hair may seem brittle and just won’t style the way you want it to because it isn’t moisturized. For women with curly hair especially, make sure you deep condition every week. Try a leave-in treatment overnight while it hydrates and repairs your locks. Rinse in the morning and notice the difference.

3. Take a multivitamin
You may not always be able to eat healthy so make sure you take a multivitamin daily. You’ll notice you have more energy and your hair will thank you.

4. Use the right shampoo/conditioner for your hair!
If you have straight hair, the shampoo/conditioner you use is different from the shampoo/conditioner a person with curly hair should use. Do some research or ask your hair stylist if the shampoo you’re using is right for you. A good option for straight/wavy hair is Pantene Pro-V. As for curly hair, shampoo without sulfate is the best option for you. The Mane n Tail shampoo/conditioner collection is a good option. It leaves the hair clean and full of volume. Whatever shampoo you decide, once a week use a clarifying shampoo to get rid of any build up of products and pollution in the hair.

5. Do your part
Your hair should be trimmed every three to four months to alleviate split ends. Also try blowdrying the hair at least every three to four weeks to prevent breakage and drying it out. Lastly, don’t dye your hair too much. According to Associated content, if you  want highlights you can apply lemon juice to your wet hair and go outside in the sun and let it air dry. Cool trick, eh?

Blame it on the Hormones

We all get a little fussy around that time of the month and I know that you know what I’m talking about. But what do you do when you feel angry, depressed or irritable too often? My advice is to blame it on the hormones! Hormones control our body in so many ways; the way we grow, eat, feel, and mate is all determined by the way our hormones are working. So in essence, if you want a well functioning immune and reproductive system, you have to make sure your hormones are working properly.

How do you figure this out?

Make a list of all your symptoms (feelings of irratibility, anger, frustration, etc.)

Find a good gynecologist where you live and have them refer you to an endocrinologist (who understands how hormones work in the body)

If you are on birth control, make sure it is the right pill for you. If you aren’t sure, speak to a gyno or endo.

Lastly, get a blood test that checks all your hormone levels. Your endocrinologist will determine whether your testosterone levels are normal. If not, you might have a hormone imbalance and he/she will help you figure out next steps.

The key to having a well-balanced body is exercising, eating healthy with vegetables and fruits in your diet daily, and living a stress free life. The way to do is to pick up a hobby or do something that makes you happy, such as blogging. Also, making sure you have a regular checkup is very essential to your well-being.

Vanessa talks love, life & being 21

Vanessa shows off her toned abs in a leopard bikini

Vanessa talks love, life & being 21

Vanessa Hudgens has a great, toned body. She’s definitely a 20 something girl that has a lot going on in terms of her career, personal life, and being a healthy 21 year old.

It’s a difficult thing for a young person to learn early on the value of eating healthy and exercising. Vanessa has an exercise routine that she’s kept up for a while now. She does pilates to keep her abs tight and cycling for an overall workout.

V quotes: “I like sitting in the front row of cycling class. I feel like everybody behind me is looking forward, and that pushes me to do my best. [...] I like to work out with friends. It gives you someone to look at and say, ‘I’m dying!’ too.”

A great workout strategy is working out with friends, and that pushes you above and beyond what you would normally do on your own.

In terms of eating healthy, Vanessa agrees that dieting is not always the best option. When she tried dieting, she ended up gaining weight, instead she advises to “eat whatever, just in tiny portions.”

For Vanessa’s 21st birthday party, she was surprised by 100 people, which included Zac, her family and friends. Zac supports her in everything that she does and vice versa.

Hudgens says, ” He always makes me happy. He literally knows exactly what to say to make me laugh.” But V says its important to have a good balance between family, friends and not to get too infatuated with your boyfriend.

Girlfriend just has a lot going on and she should be so proud of herself.

Eat What You Want & Still Lose the Weight!

The key to eating what you want and staying healthy is proportions, proportions. Often times we either get on a diet plan and punish ourselves for eating foods that we like or we indulge ourselves too much and forget about what it means to eat healthy.

If we stop and think about why we want to stay healthy, then we become motivated to do the right things to stay healthy. For instance, in order to have bouncy, shiny hair, we have to provide nutrients to our body that will promote healthy hair; hence the shine and bounce ensues. Studies show that brightly colored fruits like mangoes, raspberries and apples are rich in vitamin C, which is essential for cell renewal in the scalp and results in shiny strands. Foods that are rich in protein, zinc, biotin, b6 and b12 all contribute to a healthy mane.
Here’s a tip: Include a healthy hair snack in your day: try edamame, dark chocolate, or raspberries.
~
Another thing to note about eating right is making sure you aren’t indulging too much. For instance; make sure that for at least two meals in your day, you include salad or some type of vegetable. Top your salad off with olive oil and it’ll suppress your cravings. You also want to include whole grain foods and stay clear of too much carbs. It’s all about moderation. Treat yourself to ice cream two times a week, but not everyday.
~
Moreover, some people don’t eat breakfast, but studies show that your brain and overall body doesn’t function well without eating in the morning. It doesn’t have to be a huge portion; a simple bowl of oatmeal with blueberries would suffice. Blueberries have the highest level of antioxidants and include fiber, which prevents some fat that you eat from being absorbed because it pulls it through the digestive tract. Add a glass of OJ (Vitamin C) or even a bowel of honey nut cheerios and you’ve thanked your body by keeping it healthy and not hungry. Once you’ve started your day with nutrients, lunch and dinner should be a piece of cake.
~
If you want a body like Kim Kardashian, you’ll have to eat the right foods that include the nutrients that are mentioned above. And most importantly, 30-60 minutes of cardio everyday is essential. It is possible to eat what you want and still lose weight if you eat foods that will suppress your cravings such as yogurt, foods with olive oil and avocados. And if you eat foods that are rich in protein, you will feel full for a long time and you won’t overeat. Remember: It’s all about moderation, proportions and exercising.

Marisa Miller from the Inside, Out

Look at that gorgeous bod!

Marisa Miller has the one of the most incredible bodies in the world. It’s no surprise that she was chosen to be one of Victoria’s Secret newest angels. I was recently reading a Self magazine article in which Marisa discussed how she maintains her healthy, sexy bod from the inside, out.

For your inner beauty, Marisa recommends never leaving the house without eating. Her signature breakfast includes mixing soy or almond milk, yogurt, banana, and a scoup of protein powder with frozen organic fruit. Throw it all in the blender and you’re set to go.  Secondly, she suggests getting eight hours of sleep every night. If not, you will mess with your metabolism and you will either have too much of an appetite or none at all. Finally, Marisa advises us to cook when we can. She recommenda cooking things that are simple and take only ten minutes. For instance: noodles, pasta sauce and frozen veggies.

Marisa always has a beautiful, sunkissed glow

Your outer beauty is also important in maintaing a healthy body. Marisa urges us to take cold showers because they not only revive your body, but make your body firmer and younger looking. Also, don’t forget that in order to have a hot bod on the outside you have to workout. Doing cardio is a very important form of exercise that not only tones, but helps you maintain a healthy weight. Moreover, Marisa advises us to make sure we have the right bra for our bust. A lot of times women can go for a long time believing they are a 34B when they’re indeed a 32C. The last thing to do to look good on the outside according to Marisa is to fake the sun. I mean who doesn’t look good with a tan? She recommends the Victoria’s Secret Bare Bronze Daily Glow Moisturizer, which brings out your natural skin tone and gives it a sunkissed glow.

Thanks Marisa for your tips and tricks. We’ll be working on our bods to look more like yours. xoxo
